Yes. That is correct. Blueberry Spinach Smoothie. I am, in many ways, my grandfather’s granddaughter. My grandfather lived through the Great Depression and the rationing of World War II and my mother told many stories of his hate of waste. So I am known to go around my house turning off lights and radios, clipping coupons, etc, all in the interest of saving a buck.
Today, my stinginess led me to the produce drawer in the fridge to find something to disguise the heinous flavor of the Chobani Pear Yogurt that I just couldn’t throw away. There was a bag of spinach and I knew that I had frozen blueberries. I know many people who have been drinking green drinks and have done juice fasts. I figured one bizarre smoothie wouldn’t kill me. And you know what? It’s REALLY GOOD! I completely disguised the icky pear yogurt and you can’t taste the spinach at all! This is a great candidate for sneaking veggies into your kids. And it keeps with my tradition of easy foods to make.
1. Blend all the ingredients. I have a very ancient Oster Blender so I needed to add a little water. If you have something fancy, you won’t need to, I guess.
I had about two cups of smoothie. There was plenty for me and a little for my 11 year old to try. He’s such a trooper! He was a little shocked by the combination but he admitted you can’t taste the spinach at all. He said he would even try it again.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
