It’s a big football day in Maryland! The Ravens are playing the Patriots in some important game. Voices will be raised and the standard phrases will be yelled. “That’s why they make the big money!” I will sit daintily on the sofa with my knitting in hand, saying, “Now, now. Calm down, dear.” Ha ha ha!
The men are excited. They asked for chili. I complied. But I wanted to make something that was hearty but not heavy.
As you may know, I do love lentils and I love Indian food. And someone bought a huge bag of pita chips at Costco. I wanted to make something to go with the pita chips but I didn’t want to make plain, old hummus. I happened to have some Tasty Bite Madras Lentils. They are too thin alone to just blend into a dip. But add a can of red beans, and VOILA! Perfect.
Madras Lentil “Hummus”
1 pack of Tasty Bite Madras Lentils
1 15.5 oz can of red kidney beans
Combine and blend until smooth.
This was so delicious! And seriously, how much easier could a snack food be! Serve it with pita chips or carrots and celery, or even better, you could slice up some red peppers and serve it with those!
Lots of big football games coming up! Is your team still in it? Consider adding this to your big football menu.
